HC Deb 08 March 1939 vol 344 c2121
19. Mr. Gallacher

asked the Secretary of State for Air whether the 6 per cent. computed to be the standard profit per aircraft delivered to the Government is based on the original target price; and, if so, what is the average additional profit secured by firms for savings that are later made on this price, for quick-delivery bonuses, etc.?

Sir K. Wood

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. As regards the second, it is estimated that any additional profits that might be secured in respect of savings would not exceed 2 per cent.

Mr. Gallacher

Is it not the case that the 6 per cent. is profit for a given time, and that you can have this 6 per cent. occurring two or three times a year?

Sir K. Wood

I gave a very careful reply on the matter the other day, and I would refer the hon. Member to it.
