HC Deb 28 June 1939 vol 349 cc388-9
7. Mr. A. Henderson

asked the Prime Minister whether, with a view to maintaining friendly relations with the German people, His Majesty's Government will draw the attention of the German Government to the derogatory attacks on this country, recently made in speeches by the German Minister of Propaganda?

The Prime Minister

I have noticed, particularly in the German Press articles, distorting and sneering at any speeches made by British statesmen which seek to show an understanding of Germany's position. I cannot but deplore such attempts to poison the relations between our two countries, but I do not propose to make representations to the German Government on the subject.
