HC Deb 26 June 1939 vol 349 cc28-9
58. Sir Arnold Wilson

asked the Attorney-General whether the Government have considerd the report of the committee on the responsibility for the repair of premises damaged by hostilities; and can he make a statement on the matter?

The Attorney-General

Yes, Sir. The Government have accepted the recommendations in the report.

Sir William Davison

Is my right hon. and learned Friend aware of the unfortunate position of lessees who are bound under their leases to repair or reinstate premises in the event of their being damaged or destroyed by hostile aircraft in war time and are unable to obtain insurance against that liability?

The Attorney-General

That raises a rather different question. The Government have accepted the recommendation in the report. If my hon. Friend has any matter which he would like to have considered I shall be glad to look into it.

Sir W. Davison

Will the right hon. and learned Member consider the point I have just raised, because it is one about which very considerable concern is felt throughout the country?
