HC Deb 26 June 1939 vol 349 c26
53. Sir H. Williams

asked the First Commissioner of Works how the fees charged for riding in Hyde Park compare with those charged in Richmond Park?

The First Commissioner of Works (Mr. Ramsbotham)

No fees are charged for riding in Hyde Park. As my hon. Friend is no doubt aware, riding there is confined to a track, and that track has been in existence for over 60 years. If riding took place all over Hyde Park, with the consequent wear and tear, and if a track, in addition, was being formed there now for the first time, there would be good grounds for some contribution being made by the riders.
