HC Deb 22 June 1939 vol 348 c2437
47. Mr. Mander

asked the Prime Minister whether he will consider the advisability of causing an investigation to be made by means of a Select Committee of inquiry or otherwise into the practicability of reducing the number of salaried members of the Government, in view of the continued addition of new Departments?

The Prime Minister

I have nothing to add to the answer which I gave to the hon. Member on 13th June last.

Mr. Mander

Would the Prime Minister be good enough to bear in mind the fact that during the Debate on this subject on Monday last, some anxiety was expressed among his own supporters on this question?
