HC Deb 14 June 1939 vol 348 cc1308-11
Mr. Greenwood

May I ask the Prime Minister what Orders he proposes to take to-night in the event of the Motion for the suspension of the Eleven o' Clock Rule being carried?

The Prime Minister

The Motion for the suspension of the Eleven o' Clock Rule is being moved for the purpose of obtaining the Report and Third Reading of the Civil Defence Bill and the Committee stage of the Air-Raid Precautionary Services Estimate. I hope it will be possible to obtain the Third Reading of the Civil Defence Bill at a time which will allow reasonable opportunity before Eleven o' Clock for the consideration of the Air-Raid Precautionary Services Estimate.

Motion made, and Question put, That the Proceedings on Government Business be exempted, at this day's Sitting, from the provisions of the Standing Order (Sittings of the House)." — [The Prime Minister.]
