§ Sir S. HoareDuring the 12 months ended 31st March, 1939, three persons were killed and 211 injured as a result of 165 accidents in which Metropolitan Police cars were involved. In respect of the claims of 45 persons involved in 24 of these accidents, it is anticipated that, allowing for outstanding claims, some £5,750 will be paid out in compensation. In the remaining cases either the injury was trivial or the accident was due to the negligence of the injured person.
