HC Deb 31 July 1939 vol 350 c1948
75. Mr. Lipson

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he is aware that a Hove dairy has obtained permission from the Brighton Sewers Board to discharge 1,500 gallons of skimmed milk a day, for a month, into the sewer; and will he take steps to prevent this waste?

Sir W. Womersley

I would refer the hon. Member to the reply which I gave on 27th July to the hon. Member for Plaistow (Mr. Thorne).

Mr. Lipson

Will my hon. Friend take steps to see that the Milk Marketing Board take action to make this milk available for human consumption by giving it to hospitals or other charitable institutions?

Sir W. Womersley

Action has already been taken in this direction.

Mr. Pritt

Will the hon. Gentleman consider the posibility of making the capitalist system work better by destroying all food?

Sir W. Womersley

And all lawyers.
