§ 55. Mr. Ellis Smithasked the Minister of Supply what official committees, etc., he intends to appoint and the people who will compose the committees; is it intended to appoint a supply council or any other body and has consideration been given to the need for area or regional organisation; and, if so, what action is to be taken?
§ The Minister of Supply (Mr. Burgin)I have appointed an Advisory Industrial Panel and I will arrange for the names of the gentlemen appointed to it to be included in the Official Report. In addition, I hope to appoint further advisory panels to assist in regard to other branches of the work of the Ministry, and in particular the scientific and technical problems confronting the Ministry. Area officers who were appointed by the War Office to deal with the production of munitions and other supplies have been transferred to the Ministry, and I am proposing to expand the existing organisation.
