HC Deb 26 July 1939 vol 350 c1443
28. Mr. Henderson Stewart

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty whether he can now make a statement on the proposal to establish a naval air station at Crail, Fife?

Mr. Shakespeare

It has been decided to construct a naval air station for the use of the Fleet Air Arm on a site near Crail in Fifeshire. Negotiations for the purchase of the site are proceeding, and it is hoped to commence work early in September next. About 1,150 workmen are expected to be employed on the work by the various contractors.
