HC Deb 20 July 1939 vol 350 cc691-2
25. Sir Henry Morris-Jones

asked the Minister of Labour whether there are now any vacancies for carpenters and joiners in connection with the military camp being constructed at Kinmel, North Wales; and whether any further Irish labour has been employed in the past few weeks?

Mr. E. Brown

I am having inquiries made and will communicate with the hon. Member as soon as possible.

Sir H. Morris-Jones

Is it not the case that 178 men who were supposed to be carpenters were imported from Southern Ireland, to do work in connection with this camp? According to my information many of them were not carpenters at all and local men of excellent character, who are anxious to get employment —
