HC Deb 19 July 1939 vol 350 cc404-5
78. Sir W. Jenkins

asked the Minister of Transport what action he is taking to get the Jersey Marine Bridge erected; is he aware of the dangerous position of the present structure, and that the matter has been under consideration for a number of years?

Captain Wallace

I am aware of the unsatisfactory condition of the Jersey Marine Bridge. Negotiations between the Glamorgan County Council and the Great Western Railway Company were recently interrupted by a request for the modification of the alignment of the approach roads to avoid interference with a Civil Aerodrome in process of development. An amended line has been agreed and I understand that the County Council are now in a position to complete arrangements with the Company for the construction of a new bridge.
