66. Mr. Noel-Baker

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he will instruct the Government of Palestine that no change in the status quo regarding the rights, properties, and endowments of the Ethiopian Church in Palestine will be made except in pursuance of a legal decision given by the competent court?

Mr. M. MacDonald

The Palestine Government have no intention to make any change except in pursuance of a legal decision by a competent court.

67. Mr. Noel-Baker

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies why the Government of Palestine has withheld certain rents due by them in April last to the Ethiopian Convent in Jerusalem, in payment for certain premises belonging to the convent and hired by the Government?

I have no information on this matter, but I will make inquiry of the High Commissioner.
