HC Deb 31 January 1939 vol 343 c14
26. Mr. J. J. Davidson

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he has now completed his consideration of the recommendation of the Poor Persons (Representation) (Scotland) Committee; and, if so, has he any statement to make?

The Secretary of State for Scotland (Mr. Colville)

The inquiries into the recommendations of the Committee referred to are not yet completed, and I am at present unable to add to the replies previously given to the hon. Member on the subject.

Mr. Davidson

In view of the very long period which has elapsed between the report of the committee and the consideration given to the report, can the Minister give a promise of an early statement on this question, which is an important one?

Mr. Colville

No, Sir, I cannot name a date.
