HC Deb 27 February 1939 vol 344 cc892-3
54. Mr. David Adams

asked the Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department whether it is the intention of the Government that, during his visit to Soviet Russia, he shall obtain information as to the organisation of industry and other causes whereby unemployment in that country has for some years been eliminated?

Mr. Cross

The purposes of the forth coming visit to Moscow of my right hon. Friend were explained in the answer given in the House by the Prime Minister on 20th February, and do not include those indicated by the hon. Member.

Mr. Adams

My question, which was addressed to the Prime Minister, was whether he would send a Royal Commission to Russia to investigate the employment question? May I have an answer now to my other question?

Mr. Cross

I am only answering the question on the Paper.

Sir H. Croft

Is it not a fact that the elimination referred to in the question may possibly be accounted for by the fact that all the original disciples of Lenin have been elminated?
