HC Deb 27 February 1939 vol 344 c894
47. Mr. A. Henderson

asked the Prime Minister whether, in view of the recent increase in the number of Italian troops in Italian East Africa, His Majesty's Government propose to continue the negotiations for the adjustment of boundaries between Italian East Africa and the Sudan and British adjacent territories, as provided in the Protocol to the Anglo-Italian Agreement?

Mr. Butler

I have been asked to reply. The number of effectives in Italian East Africa is not a matter covered by the Anglo-Italian Agreement, and His Majesty's Government do not propose on account of any such increase to alter their plans for negotiating the adjustment of boundaries between Italian East Africa and adjacent territories as provided for by the Agreement.

Mr. Henderson

Are those negotiations now taking place?

Mr. Butler

No, Sir, they have not yet started.
