§ 20. Mr. Arthur Hendersonasked the President of the Board of Trade how often the reserve stores on lighthouses and lightships are changed?
§ Mr. StanleyIn the Trinity House service a stock of provisions is always kept to meet the contingency of a delayed relief. This is regularly examined by the inspecting officer and renewed as found necessary. In the Scottish service the position is somewhat different. A sufficient stock of provisions is carried to maintain a two months' reserve, but these provisions are regularly consumed and replenished. In the Irish service the authority does not provide a reserve, but the light keepers are required by the regulations to maintain an ample supply of provisions at the stations.
§ 21. Mr. Hendersonasked the President of the Board of Trade whether consideration will be given to the desirability of fitting up lighthouses and lightships with wireless apparatus?
§ Mr. StanleyI would refer the hon. Member to the answer given on 20th December to a question on this subject by my hon. Friend the Member for Stock-port (Mr. Hulbert).
