HC Deb 20 February 1939 vol 344 c27
45. Mr. H. G. Williams

asked the Prime Minister whether, in view of the anxiety existing as to the position in Cyprus, he will consider the question of advising the appointment of a Royal Commission to inquire into the matter?

The Prime Minister

No, Sir. I am advised that the situation in Cyprus is not such as to call for investigation by a Royal Commission.

Mr. Williams

Will my right hon. Friend consider the possibility of some other form of investigation in view of the obvious anxiety which exists?

The Prime Minister

My information is that the situation probably is one that can be dealt with by the Secretary of State in conjunction with the Governor.
