asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he will make a statement regarding the housing situation in Alloa; and what proposals have been put forward by the Scottish Office and the local authority to deal with it?

According to the latest information submitted by the town council, 308 new houses are required to replace unfit houses and to accommodate families now overcrowded. The town council have placed contracts for the building of 288 houses, of which 114 were under construction at the end of January.
