HC Deb 09 February 1939 vol 343 cc1116-7
50. Mr. Mander

asked the Home Secretary the number of occasions during the last two years on which the British Board of Film Censors has consulted his Department for information or advice?

Sir S. Hoare

There were two such occasions so far as can be traced.

Mr. Mander

Can the right hon. Gentleman say whether the advice of the Home Office was accepted on those two occasions, and whether this is in effect a secret, unofficial, political, film censorship?

Sir S. Hoare

The answer to the hon. Gentleman's second supplementary question is "No" As to the first, I could not say without notice.
