asked the Minister of Labour the income and expenditure of the Unemployment Fund for September and December last; and whether the fund shows a loss or surplus for the year ending December, 1938?

The approximate total income and expenditure of the Unemployment Fund in September and December, 1938, were as follow:

Four weeks to 24th September, 1938. Five weeks to 31st December, 1938.

As regards the second part of the question, the financial condition of the fund at 31st December, 1938, is now under the consideration of the Unemployment Insurance Statutory Committee, who will make their statutory report to me not later than the end of this month.
