HC Deb 14 December 1939 vol 355 cc1233-4
1. Mr. Adamson

asked the Minister of Labour whether his attention has been drawn to the stoppage of work at the premises of the Newport Hosiery Company, Portland Street, Newport, Monmouthshire, contractors to the War Office; whether his conciliation officers have interviewed the firm, and whether the firm has now agreed to meet the employés' trade union with a view to arranging satisfactory wages and conditions of employment?

The Minister of Labour (Mr. Ernest Brown)

My officers are in touch with both parties to this dispute. There has been a meeting between the firm and the trade union, and a further meeting has been arranged.
