HC Deb 14 December 1939 vol 355 cc1256-7
22. Sir A. Knox

asked the Home Secretary whether the letter which was written by a certain M. Kuusinen when a member of the Third International to the Communist party of Great Britain precisely detailing the work which must be done by that party to further the world revolution, and which was seized in a raid by the police in King Street, has been preserved; and whether he will publish the contents?

Sir J. Anderson

I am not sure which particular letter my hon. and gallant Friend has in mind, but some letters from M. Kuuisnen to the Communist party of Great Britain which were among the documents seized by the police at the Communist party offices in October, 1925, were included in the selection of documents printed and placed on sale in June, 1926, as Command Paper 2682, under the title "Communist Papers." Copies of this publication are still procurable from the Stationery Office.

Sir A. Knox

Is this the individual who has been nominated to the head of the Government of Finland by Soviet Russia?

Sir J. Anderson

As far as I know, yes.

Mr. T. Smith

If these letters are preserved as a matter of historical interest, is it not because they were very helpful to the Conservative party at the time?
