asked the Secretary for Mines whether he has any information as to the granting of rent and coal allowances by the Northumberland and Durham coalowners to miners who are serving in the Defence Services?

Mr. Lloyd

I understand that the arrangements at present in force have been extended for a further period.

Miss Ward

Will those arrangements be permanent until the end of the war?

Mr. Lloyd

I said that my information at present is that they have been extended for a further period. I cannot add anything to that.
