19. Mr. Vyvyan Adamsasked the Home Secretary whether he will now state the date on which it is proposed to restore summer time to the British public?
§ Sir J. AndersonI have already indicated that I am disposed to favour an earlier date for the introduction of summer time next year: but I do not think it is necessary to decide so tar ahead exactly what that earlier date should be.
Mr. AdamsIs not my right hon. Friend aware that it would be possible to restart summer time in about two months from now, and is he further aware that he has disclosed no valid reason for his refusal to illuminate us about the earlier date?
§ Sir J. AndersonI think that the consultations that ought to take place before a decision is given could be carried out more effectively a little later.
§ Mr. ThorneDoes the right hon. Gentleman recognise that this is an important matter for people who go to work early in the morning?
