HC Deb 07 December 1939 vol 355 c792
31. Miss Ward

asked the Home Secretary whether he will give an assurance that instructions have been issued to regional commissioners to give facilities to Members of Parliament to have free passage in their constituencies, in the event of the regional organisation being put into operation owing to aerial bombardment having cut off the region from the central Government?

Sir J. Anderson

I am satisfied that, in the circumstances described in the question, regional commissioners would do all in their power to assist Members of this House to carry out their duties; and no special instructions from me appear necessary.

Miss Ward

May I ask whether that reply will be circulated to the officers concerned?

Sir J. Anderson

I have no doubt the attention of the regional commissioners will be called to my reply.
