HC Deb 07 December 1939 vol 355 c813
52. Sir R. Acland

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he is making any arrangements with the Air Ministry to make good use of the grass grown on aerodromes; and whether he is considering the development of grass-drying machinery in connection with aerodromes during next summer?

Sir R. Dorman-Smith

I am considering with my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Air to what extent it may be practicable for aerodrome grass to he conserved for agricultural purposes next season by the use of grass-drying plant; but the hon. Member will no doubt appreciate that there are serious difficulties in reconciling essential Service requirements with the production and cutting of grass for agricultural use.
