asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether the question of the winter herring fishing is under the consideration of His Majesty's Government; and whether the Herring Industry Board are being consulted in the matter?

Yes, Sir. My Department, with which the Chairman of the Herring Industry Board is now asso- ciated, is in consultation with the Ministry of Food and the Naval authorities on this subject.

Will my right hon. Friend also consult the leaders in the industry?

Mr. Colville

I will consider what consultation can be undertaken.
