Lords AmendmentIn page 43, line 18, leave out "trade societies," and insert "associations representative of employees."
§ Sir K. WoodI beg to move, "That this House doth agree with the Lords in the said Amendment."
This is in compliance with an undertaking which I gave. As the hon. Gentleman opposite will remember, it was a question whether the term "trade societies'' was a happy one. The other place has introduced the words "associations representative of employés," which I think covers the whole ground. 2806 One had to remember that the Corporation will function all over the world, and one wanted to find a term that would cover all sorts of conditions. I think, if I may say so, the hon. Gentleman was right in pointing this out, and I hope he will feel that we have endeavoured to meet his point.
§ Mr. LathanI am indebted to the Secretary of State for having given consideration to this matter. The proposal which he has now made will meet the views which we put forward.
§ The remaining Orders were read, and postponed.
§ It being after half-past Eleven of the Clock Mr. SPEAKER adjourned the House, without Question put, pursuant to the Standing Order.
