§ 14. Mr. Leslieasked the Minister of Labour whether he is aware that men employed in a Midlands arms factory are suffering from fatigue due to excessive overtime, resulting in a high rate of breakage of machine-tools; that during the Great War sickness ratio amongst munitions workers, due to excessive hours of labour, increased to such an extent that representations on the subject were made to the Government by the medical fraternity; and will he take steps to prevent long hours in the interests of the workers' health?
§ Mr. E. BrownI am not aware of the case to which the hon. Member refers. I would point out that there is joint machinery in the engineering industry under which cases of alleged excessive overtime can be brought up.
