HC Deb 26 April 1939 vol 346 c1147
70. Mr. De la Bère

asked the Postmaster-General whether he will take steps to see that all the public telephone boxes throughout the Evesham division shall have electric light installed to obviate inconvenience to those using the telephone?

The Postmaster-General (Major Tryon)

Of a total of 69 telephone kiosks in the Evesham Division, 54 already have—or will shortly have—electric light installed, while in 13 cases there is no electricity supply available in the vicinity. Inquiries are already in hand regarding the supply of electric light in the remaining two cases.

Mr. De la Bère

Does not my right hon. Friend realise that that is the very point that I am trying to get at, that there is no electricity available in many instances? Does he know what happened to me the other evening?
