§ 62. Mr. J. § The Minister of Transport (Captain Euan Wallace)The Electricity Commissioners are not informed as to special rates of this kind and I regret, therefore, that I cannot supply the hon. Member with the particulars for which he asks.
§ Mr. MorganIf the Minister were satisfied that such a rate had been quoted with a view to depreciating the rights of the Doncaster Borough in their area and 1136 with a view to the absorption of the undertaking by this company, would he have any objection to such a procedure?
§ Captain WallaceThe Commissioners are not informed about this, and it is, therefore, impossible for me to tell the hon. Member.
§ Mr. T. WilliamsIs the right hon. Gentleman not aware that 70 per cent. of the residents in the Don Valley, consumers of the Yorkshire Electric Power Company's electricity are obliged to subsidise uneconomic prices for electricity; and will he look into the matter again and have the case re-examined?
§ Captain WallaceI would not like to accept the hon. Gentleman's description of the situation, but, of course, I will look into the matter.
§ Mr. MorganIf I give him the actual facts later, will the Minister go into this matter in a particular way?
§ Captain WallaceIf the hon. Member has the actual facts in answer to his own question, perhaps he would be good enough to give them to me.
§ Mr. MorganThat is not so, but I will ascertain them, since the Minister seems to be unable to get them.
