HC Deb 26 April 1939 vol 346 cc1140-1
56. Mr. Pilkington

asked the Minister of Transport whether any more of the Bressey report is to be put into effect forthwith in Inner London, and, if so, what part?

Captain Wallace

The London County Council, who are the improvement authority for the county of London, are proceeding with the following schemes: —the Cromwell Road Extension, the duplication of Blackwall Tunnel, the reconstruction of Wandsworth Bridge and its southern approach which forms part of the South Circular Road, and the construction of a bridge to connect Wood Lane and Latimer Road, which will form an important link in the east-west connection.

Mr. Benjamin Smith

Is it not correct to say that both the Wandsworth Bridge scheme and the Cromwell Road extension scheme have nothing to do with the Bressey Report but emanated from the Traffic Advisory Committee?

Captain Wallace

As I am new to my office, I would like to see that question on the Paper.
