§ 45. Mr. Craven-Ellis
asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what steps His 961 Majesty's Government have taken to obtain the co-operation of the banking system in securing that the Government borrowing places the least possible obstacle in the way of private enterprise and exerts its maximum effort in stimulating employment?
§ The Financial Secretary to the Treasury (Captain Crookshank)
There has been no lack of co-operation on the part of the banks and there is, therefore, no call for my right hon. Friend to take special steps of the nature indicated.
§ Mr. Craven-Ellis
In view of the inadequacy of the reply, I beg to give notice that I intend to raise this matter on the Adjournment at the earliest opportunity.
