§ 32. Mr. James Griffithsasked the Paymaster-General, as representing the Lord President of the Council, whether he can make a statement indicating what progress is being made with the investigation of silicosis and other chest diseases among anthracite miners in South Wales?
The Paymaster-General (Earl Winter-ton)The work is proceeding satisfactorily on the lines indicated in my reply to the hon. Member on 23rd February.
§ Mr. GriffithsCan the right hon. Gentleman give any indication when the investigation will be completed?
§ Earl WintertonNo, Sir; I said in reply to the question that after the preliminary investigation has been completed an investigation will take place into six collieries. The field work should be completed by the early summer, and the data and material collected will then have to be analysed. I cannot say when the final investigation will be completed.
