HC Deb 13 April 1939 vol 346 c1
Mr. Attlee

May I ask the Prime Minister whether he has any statement to make as regards business?

The Prime Minister (Mr. Chamberlain)

The Adjournment of the House will be moved, and I shall make a statement on the international situation. I would suggest that we should conclude the Debate to-day, and if this course is agreeable to the House, as I hope it will be, we shall ask leave at the end of the Debate to withdraw the Motion for the Adjournment of the House, and then move another Motion for the Adjournment until Tuesday next, 18th April.

Mr. Attlee

With regard to the continuance of the Debate, while there is a good deal to be said for ending this Debate to-day, there is the point that sometimes in these Debates some Members on the back benches feel that they want an opportunity to speak, and I should like that matter to be considered in the course of the Debate.
