HC Deb 05 April 1939 vol 345 cc2790-1
18. Mr. Maxwell

asked the Secretary of State for Air how many candidates from the Dominions and Colonies have been accepted for appointment to commissions as pilots in the Royal Air Force during the past year?

Sir K. Wood

The number of candidates from the oversea Dominions and from the Colonies who were accepted for appointment to commissions as pilots in the Royal Air Force in the past year is 517 which, I am sure the House will agree, is a very helpful contribution.

Mr. Maxwell

Can my right hon. Friend say whether he anticipates that this satisfactory situation will continue for the following year?
