HC Deb 05 April 1939 vol 345 cc2770-1
43. Mr. Creech Jones

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he can make any statement on the report of the Kenya Settlement Committee; whether the recommendations for the provision of water supplies in the areas being offered for settlement have received his consideration; and whether he will recommend that the repayment of any grant made by the Colonial Development Fund for this purpose, as also any financial provision for the main scheme, shall not fall upon the native population of Kenya?

Mr. M. MacDonald

I have not yet received the Governor's observations on the report of the Kenya Settlement Committee, and am therefore not yet in a position to make a statement on the subject.
