HC Deb 04 April 1939 vol 345 cc2600-1
21. Mr. Mander

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he has considered the offer from a group of Czecho-Slovak reserve officers to place their services at the disposal of the British military authorities; and whether arrangements can be made for them to join some branch of the British Army?

The Secretary of State for War (Mr. Hore-Belisha)

I have to inform the House that applications from foreign nationals will in suitable cases be considered, more particularly where the applicant can speak English and has had previous military training.

Mr. Mander

That is not an answer to the question on the Paper.

Mr. Hore-Belisha

The question asks whether I have considered an offer, and I have said that I will consider any suitable application.

Mr. Mander

Does the right hon. Gentleman intend to accept officers in these particular cases?

Mr. Hore-Belisha

I must consider their individual qualifications.
