HC Deb 03 April 1939 vol 345 c2458
77. Mr. Leonard

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury what Departments fill vacancies in the clerical assist ant grade in Belfast by internal transfer; and what proportion of the total vacancies occurring are so filled in the case of each Department?

Captain Wallace

Clerical assistants are employed in Belfast by the following Departments: General Post Office, Inland Revenue Department, Ministry of Pensions, and the Stationery Office. In the offices of the Ministry of Pensions and the Stationery Office in Belfast there is only one officer in the grade of clerical assistant. Any of these Departments may fill vacancies by internal transfer, but no definite proportion of the vacancies to be so filled has been laid down. During the last three years the General Post Office have filled 10 vacancies for clerical assistants in Belfast by internal transfer and three from the open competitions for that grade; in the Inland Revenue Department the figures for the same period have been eight and nil respectively.
