§ 54. Mr. Leachasked the Minister of Health how many children at Horncastle 2449 who had been immunised against diphtheria developed that disease during the last three years?
§ The Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Health (Mr. Bernays)I have made inquiries from the local authorities and I am informed that complete records on this matter are not available in respect of the Horncastle Urban District earlier than May, 1938. Since that date no immunised child has contracted diphtheria, and the available information for the earlier period indicates that approximately 600 children received one dose of a diphtheria prophylactic and that subsequently six of these were reported as having contracted diphtheria. There have been no cases of diphtheria amongst immunised children in the Horncastle Rural District during the past three years.
