HC Deb 06 October 1938 vol 339 cc472-3
22. Mr. Parker

asked the Prime Minister whether he has any information about recent negotiations between Germany and Lithuania; and whether they affect the trade relations between Lithuania and this country?

Mr. Butler

I understand that no negotiations are or have been in progress, apart from discussions which took place some months ago on the interpretation of the Memel Statute; and I am informed that there is no confirmation of recent Press reports of impending commercial negotiations. Any attempt to prejudice commercial relations between Lithuania and this country would, of course, be resisted by His Majesty's Government.
