HC Deb 30 November 1938 vol 342 c419
68. Sir Nicholas Grattan-Doyle

asked the Minister of Transport whether he has received any reports as to the value in the reduction of accidents of the use of coloured concrete traffic lines?

The Minister of Transport (Mr. Burgin)

Reports indicate that lines dividing a carriageway into traffic lanes are of value in guiding traffic and in helping to reduce the risk of accidents. So far as I am aware, no special merit is attached to coloured concrete as compared with other materials used for this purpose.

Is there any chance of getting rid of the Belisha beacons, which are so offensive to the sight?
