HC Deb 30 November 1938 vol 342 cc409-10
45. Lieut.-Commander Fletcher

asked the Prime Minister whether he will make a statement on the refugee problem in the light of discussions on the subject in Paris?

The Prime Minister

On the Paris conversations I can add nothing to the reply which I gave to the hon. Member for Kingswinford (Mr. A. Henderson) on 28th November. As regards the refugee problem, an informal meeting of the chairman, vice-chairmen and director of the Inter-Governmental Committee will be held in London at the end of this week, at which the work of the Committee will be reviewed.

Sir P. Harris

Does the right hon. Gentleman realise that this question is one of very great urgency and that the time factor is very important, and will be impress upon the Committee the necessity for coming to speedy conclusions as to what action should be taken?

The Prime Minister

I think everybody is aware of the urgency of the matter.
