HC Deb 29 November 1938 vol 342 c229
31. Mr. Day

asked the President of the Board of Trade, to what extent the.Government are responsible for any portion of the present marine risk of the new Cunard steamship "Queen Elizabeth?"

Mr. Stanley

Any marine risks to which this vessel may be subject until delivery to the owners at Southampton are covered under the construction risks insurance, of which His Majesty's Government covers £740,000 out of a total of £4,500,000, the remainder being covered in the insurance market.

Mr. Day

Can the right hon. Gentleman say whether any of this risk which is covered in the open market has been taken by foreign insurers?

Mr. Stanley

Not without notice.
