HC Deb 29 November 1938 vol 342 cc241-2
49. Mr. J. Griffiths

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he is aware that Income Tax inspectors in some districts have made demands upon taxpayers to forward their Post Office Savings Bank book for inspection by the Inland Revenue Department; and, as depositors in the Post Office Savings Bank are warned not to let their savings book pass out of their possession, will he issue new regulations to make this point clear to depositors?

The Chancellor of the Exchequer (Sir John Simon)

If the hon. Member will give me particulars of the cases which he has in mind, I will be glad to have inquiries made and to communicate with him in due course.
