HC Deb 28 November 1938 vol 342 c31
72. Mr. Hannah

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he can make a statement on the results of the efforts of the South Queensferry Council to preserve threatened houses built in the seventeenth century?

Sir P. Sassoon

I have been asked to reply. Representations have been made by my Department to the South Queens-ferry Town Council as to the desirability of preserving two seventeenth century houses of considerable architectural interest which are threatened with demolition for road widening, but no reply has yet been received from the council.

Mr. Malcolm MacMillan

May I ask what has happened to the Secretary of State for Scotland?

Mr. Hannah

Will it not materially damage the tourist traffic to South Queens-ferry if these houses are pulled down?

Sir P. Sassoon

We have made representations to the town council, but have not yet had a reply.
