HC Deb 28 November 1938 vol 342 cc24-5
37. Mr. T. Smith

asked the Minister of Pensions how many of the 2,267 ex-service men who were refused pensions during the 12 months ended 30th September, 1938, were examined by doctors employed by the Ministry of Pensions?

The Minister of Pensions (Mr. Ramsbotham)

I am sorry that I am unable to supply the information desired, as no such detailed record is kept of each individual case that the Ministry are unable to admit.

Mr. Smith

Does the Minister agree that at least these ex-service men are entitled to a thorough examination by one of the Ministry's doctors before an application is turned down?

Mr. Ramsbotham

I can assure the hon. Gentleman that an examination is made in all cases where there is any dispute or disagreement as to diagnosis.
