§ Sir J. SimonThe proposals for this Measure are at present under discussion between the Joint Committee of Cotton Trade Organisations and various interests that are likely to be affected by it. In these circumstances, I am not yet in a position to announce when the Bill will come before the House.
§ Sir J. SimonI cannot give a definite answer. A good deal will depend on how rapidly these negotiations progress.
§ Sir J. SimonIf agreement is reached, I think the Bill will be brought in soon afterwards.
§ Mr. ShinwellIf no agreement is reached, is there no alternative legislation calculated to improve the condition of the cotton industry?
§ Sir J. SimonIt is hoped that the negotiations will result in agreement.
