44. Mr. T. Williams

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he has considered representations from members of the State Council in Ceylon regarding the present Constitution; and, if so, would he communicate the nature of his reply to the House?

Mr. M. MacDonald

I would refer the hon. Member to the reply which I gave to a number of questions on 16th November.

Mr. Creech Jones

Will the statement in question be printed for the information of the House? Will it be published as a White Paper?

Mr. MacDonald

Yes, Sir.

Sir A. Knox

Has the right hon. Gentleman received a deputation representing the minorities in Ceylon who are definitely opposed to these changes?

Mr. MacDonald

Yes, Sir; I have had an opportunity of coming into touch with the representatives of those communities.
